Our podcast is hosted by award winning rosarians Chris VanCleave and Teresa Byington, each of whom brings a unique perspective to the world of roses.

Chris VanCleave
America’s Favorite Rose Gardener Nicknamed "The Redneck Rosarian”, Chris VanCleave is passionate about gardening and growing roses. A grower of roses "most of his life", he is an active member of the Birmingham chapter of the American Rose Society, serving two terms as President. In 2007, he created the Rose Chat Podcast which has reached nearly a million listeners with news and information on growing on growing the world’s most beloved flower, the rose. He was a contributor to the 2015 Southern Living Gardening Book, has appeared on P. Allen Smith’s Garden Home television show and was featured in the June 2015 issue of Southern Living Magazine. Locally, Chris serves as Chairman of the Helena Alabama Beautification Board where he has spearheaded efforts to create a sustainable landscape in one of the top one hundred places to live in the United States. His writing is seen at About.com, in various magazines, and on his popular website; RedneckRosarian.com, where he chronicles his gardening adventures and explores an intrinsic mix of life, faith, and gardening. An agent of change with 25+ years’ experience in process innovation in the corporate arena, Mr. VanCleave is leading the charge to reinvigorate horticultural societies and helping them to reach their full potential in the social media age.

Teresa Byington

Teresa Byington loves to dig in the dirt and gets plenty of opportunities to do just that as she cares for her large cottage garden that consists of about 200 roses. In this garden she weaves together her love of roses and their companions – herbs, flowers, shrubs and more! Her collection of roses go from old garden roses to the most modern landscape varieties. Teresa is an active member of the American Rose Society where she serves on the board of directors representing the Illinois/Indiana district. Locally, she is President of the Indianapolis Rose Society. As a Master Gardener she has additional opportunities to get her hands dirty as well as educating others about gardening. Her blog, TheGardenDiary.com, tells of her adventures in the garden and in life, as well as promotes roses as an integral part of the landscape. She is a co-host of the Rose Chat Radio podcast and brings a wealth of knowledge and garden inspiration to the Rose Chat family. Teresa loves to speak to garden clubs and other garden groups to get the word out about roses and their place in every landscape.
